| lv-LV |
dc.description.abstract | Title of the thesis: Systematic review: The Effects of Vocal Function Exercises on Aging Voice The aim of this study: Systematically analyze and compile aviable scientific literature on the effects of Vocal Function Exercises on voice quality, aerodynamic measures and voice self-assesment for aging voice, determine whether Vocal Function Exercises is an effective therapy for treating aging voice. Research question: Do Vocal Function Exercises improve vocal quality, aerodynamic measures and voice self-assesment for aging voice? Are Vocal Function Exercises an effective treatment for aging voice? Research methods: The selected databases for data collection were: SAGE journals, Science Direct, EBSCO host, Wiley Online Library. The selection of studies was conducted by using PRISMA guidelines. Using combinations of the chosen key words, studies were selected by their adequacy to inclusion and exclusion criteria, duplicates were excluded by using management tool Mendeley. The quality of the selected studies was evaluated by using PEDro scale. Results: From 2343 studies that were identified in the databases, three studies were chosen for further analysis through the selection process. Two out of the three studies were given six points, but one study – four points during the PEDro scale evaluation, which means that two studies are considered as good, but one study as fair. Information that was gathered from all three studies was compiled and structured, later analyzed, in certain sections: (1) information about participants of the studies, (2) diagnosis found in the studies, (3) evaluation tools used in studies, (4) course of the therapy, (5) gathered results in the studies, (6) conclusions that were made in the studies. Conclusions: It was concluded that Vocal Function Exercises is an effective treatment for reducing symptoms that are associated with aging voice, improving acoustic, auditory-perceptual, aerodynamic and voice self-assesment ratings, although the exact mechanisms of voice which improve the aging voice are unknown. | en-UK |
