Digitālā identitāte un tās konstruēšana Instagram platformā

Abstract

Darba autore Jūlija Ferčuka darba vadītājas Laines Kristbergas, PhD, vadībā ir izstrādājusi bakalaura darbu “Digitālā identitāte un tās konstruēšana Instagram platformā”. Bakalaura darba galvenais mērķis ir izpētīt vizuālo komunikāciju fotogrāfijas medijā un analizēt, kā cilvēki reprezentē sevi sociālajos tīklos un veido digitālo identitāti. Bakalaura darba teorētiskajā daļā autore pievēršas digitālās identitātes un tās konstruēšanas problemātikai, tostarp analizējot arī sociālo tīklu ietekmi uz mūsdienu komunikāciju. Autore pēta digitālās identitātes reprezentāciju ar Ērvinga Gofmaņa identitātes teorijas palīdzību, savukārt Instagram platformas fotogrāfiju daudzveidību skata saistībā ar Ļeva Manoviča (Lev Manovich) līdzšinējo pētījumu secinājumiem. Koncepcijas daļā autore sniedz veiktās aptaujas rezultātus par Instagram platformas satura veidošanu. Aptaujas gaitā tika secināts, ka katrs lietotājs, kurš lieto Instagram platformu, veido digitālo identitāti, atspoguļojot to dažādi. Daži organizē savu Instagram profilu vienotā stilā, citi savukārt neseko nevienam stilam vai konkrētai estētikai. Bakalaura darba radošajā darbā tika fotografēti 9 jaunieši, kuri piedāvāja idejas ideālās fotogrāfijas veidošanai savam Instagram profilam, kas arī bija galvenais radošās daļas mērķis. No katras fotosesijas tika atlasīta viena fotogrāfija, kura, pēc dalībnieka domām, viņam likās ideāla viņa Instagram profilam. Visas fotogrāfijas tika apstrādātas ar Adobe Photoshop 2020, fotogrāfijās tika veikta minimāla krāsu korekcija, fotogrāfiju kadrēšana un fotogrāfiju taisnošana. The author of the work Julia Ferchuk, under her Thesis supervisor Laine Kristberga, PhD, elaborated Bachelor’s Thesis on the following topic Digital Identity and its Construction Through ‘Instagram’.

The main goal of the Bachelor’s Thesis was to explore visual communication through photography and to analyse how people represent themselves on social networks and construct their digital identity.

In the theoretical part of the Bachelor’s Thesis the author focuses on the problematic scope of the digital identity and its construction, including the analysis of the impact of social networks on modern communication. The author examines the representation of the digital identity with the help of Irving Goffman’s identity theory, whereas the various modes of Instagram photographs are viewed in connection with the conclusions provided by Lev Manovich in his recent studies.

In the conceptual part, the author provides the results of a survey that was carried out on the development of Instagram platform. The survey concluded that each Instagram user creates their digital identity differently. Some organize their Instagram profile photos following the principles a similar style, whereas are reluctant to follow one particular style or aesthetics.

In the creative work of the Bachelor’s Thesis, 9 young people were photographed, who offered ideas for creating an ideal photo for their Instagram profile, which was also the main goal of the creative part. Each participant selected one photo from each photo session. To participant’s mind, this photo was regarded as ideal for his/her Instagram profile. All photos were processed with Adobe Photoshop 2020, with minimal colour correction, photo framing, and photo straightening.
