The bachelor's thesis “Reflection of administrative territorial reform in regional newspapers”, such newspapers as “Kurzemes Vārds”, “Bauskas Dzīve”, “Auseklis” and “Latgales Laiks” will summarize theoretical literature on public sphere formation during the reform development period, the role of newspapers as print media environment and society, as well as the interaction of normative theory in newspapers. The role of the media, in this case newspapers as a medium, also plays an important role in society's understanding of political issues, in which case it can be seen as an intermediate step in translating and providing clear information so that society can understand what is happening in politics as clearly as possible. It only shows that through their work, journalists can improve public awareness as well as their ability to understand key policy issues. The public sphere and journalism contribute to the debate on political processes, in this case administrative-territorial reform, by involving both the political sphere and the public, as well as other sectors that are also part of society, in joint decision-making that is positive for democracy society. In this research work 4 newspapers of big cities are analyzed. Because print media-newspapers are read, although they show a decline in terms of subscribers, it only allows newspapers that, over time, newspapers will become the media of a particular segment, that is, as the quality of newspapers increases, the public will be interested in informing themselves and educate about what is happening, meanwhile newspapers will not disappear. It is also necessary to take into account the flow of news that is observed in the Internet environment, then in newspapers it is less and more concentrated and targeted in a specific direction. In this case, it is a regional newspaper with a specific audience, so the content is also tailored to the specific region, although the diversity of news is and often is not limited to the region. The research examines how and how regional newspapers are involved in covering administrative-territorial reform. In order to provide accurate data on the research question, a quantitative content analysis was used for the analysis of newspapers to reveal data on the involvement of newspapers in the coverage of the reform analyzing them after creating different categories. The bachelor's work consists of 50 pages, or 14352 words. This work is complemented by newspaper images, as well as charts and a table that summarizes the number of publications. |
