Tima Bērtona stila semiotiskā analīze literāro darbu ekranizācijās

Abstract

Šī bakalaura darba temats ir “Tima Bērtona stila semiotiskā analīze literāro darbu ekranizācijās”. Darba autore – Laima Raičonoka, darba vadītāja – Asoc. Prof. Dr. phil. Ilva Skulte. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētot atšķirības starp literārajiem darbiem un ekranizācijām, analizēt Tima Bērtona stilu literāro darbu ekranizācijās. Bakalaura darba izveidošanai tika izvirzīti 4 uzdevumi: • Iepazīties un aprakstīt režisora Tima Bērtona biogrāfiju un viņa radošo daiļradi kopumā; • Aprakstīt kino būtiskākos elementus, kino valodu un naratīvu; • Veikt literāro darbu un literāro darbu ekranizāciju stila semiotisko analīzi un naratīva analīzi; • Apkopot iegūtos datus un izveidot secinājumus. Šajā darbā tiek aplūkotas un analizētas četras literāro darbu ekranizācijas: • “Čārlijs un šokolādes fabrika” (“Charlie and the chocolate factory”) • “Alise Brīnumzemē (“Alice in the Wonderland”) • “Mis Perigrīnas nams brīnumbērniem” (“Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children”) • “Lielā zivs” (“Big fish”) Teorētiskajā daļā tiek aplūkots režisora Tima Bērtona unikālais stils, svarīgākās kino daļas, kas ir mizanscēna, montāža, apgaismojums un mūzika, kā arī kas ir ekranizācijas un tiešāk literāro darbu ekranizācijas. Tims Bērtons ne tikai cenšas respektēt literāros darbus, ekranizācijās izmantojot daļu no sižeta, mizanscēnas un varoņu rakstura iezīmes, bet arī pilnveido stāstus ar sava stila elementiem. Visas izanalizētās ekranizācijas, izņemot vienu, saturēja lielu daļu literāro darbu pamata. Mizanscēna tika izveidota ļoti līdzīga tai, kas tika aprakstīta grāmatās, režisors pievienoja savu stilu pārsvarā apgaismojumā un nedaudz dekorācijās, kameru kustībā/leņķos un arī montāžā. Liela daļa dialogu, kas bija grāmatās atkārtojās arī filmā, tādēļ bija nepieciešams analizēt gan filmas, gan grāmatas oriģinālā valodā, angļu valodā, savādāk nebūtu iespējams atrast līdzības abos avotos.

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is: "Semiotic analysis of Tim Burton's style in screen adaptations of literary works". Author of the work - Laima Raičonoka, supervisor - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phil. Ilva Skulte. This bachelor's thesis aims to analyze American film director, producer, writer, and artist Tim Burton's movies. The theory of semiotic codes applies very well to the work of Tim Burton. His work is exemplary of the power of semiotics. Few examples of Tim Burton's work will be selected. The thesis will prove Tim Burton’s superb ability to play on semiotic codes and conventions to entice the audience into the scene. The tasks of the present bachelor’s thesis are: • Get acquainted with Tim Burton's biography and his creative work; • Describe the most important elements of the cinema, which are movie language and narrative; • To perform a semiotic analysis of the screening of selected literary works; • Summarize the obtained data and draw conclusions. In this thesis, have been selected and studied four adaptations of literary works: • "Charlie and the chocolate factory" • "Alice in the Wonderland" • "Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children" • "Big fish" In theoretical part of bachelor’s thesis author analysed Tim Burton’s unique style, the most important parts of the cinema, which are mise-en-scene, editing, different camera angles and also what are adaptations and to be precise, what are adaptations of literary works. Author concluded that Tim Burton not only respects literary works, that movies are based on, but also improves them with his unique style. All of the analyzed adaptations with one exception contained big parts of books. mise-en-scene was similar to descriptions in books. You can see a few additions from director in lighting, editing and camera angles and decorations. A huge part of dialogues, that was in the books also appeared in adaptations. That’s why author decided to analyze books and movies in their original language, which was English. If it was done differently, there would be no way to conclude that.
