Abstract: Ritvars Balceris: Kvalifikācijas darbs “Muskuļu garuma izvērtējums rokasbumbas spēlētājiem.”
Ritvars Balceris: Qualification work “Muscle length evaluation for handball players” Relevance: Most handball players have shortened muscle length due to the specifics of the sport. It is most often the muscles of the lower back and shoulder girdle. Very often these problems are caused by the wrong throwing technique. Both German men's professional basketball and handball are associated with a high risk of injury in regular league games. However, professional men's basketball and handball injury patterns are very different, reflecting different performance profiles. Therefore, prevention strategies and measures should be tailored to specific sports and, in addition, to the risks and patterns inherent in the position. Significant shoulder problems during the season constantly affect many players. Target: Evaluate muscle length for Latvian handball players. Work tasks: 1) Use a questionnaire to find out for how long, in what position and at what level each player trains. 2) Perform muscle length tests for players. 3) Gather data and draw conclusions. Hypothesis: Most Latvian handball players have shortened muscles. The most common are the pelvic floor muscles and the shoulder girdle muscles. Complaints of lower back and shoulder pain are common among handball players. Research participants or research data sources: Latvian national team, Latvian Premier League and Latvian 1st league championship players. Research methodology: 1) Muscle length tests according to F. P. Kendall. 2) Interviews with various coaches and players. 3) Questionnaire The main results of the research: Most Latvian handball players have shortened muscle lengths and shoulder problems.
