Abstract: Bērnu un pusaudžu eksternalizējoša uzvedība ir svarīgs faktors mentālās veselības izvērtēšanai bērnu psihiatrijā.
Externalizing behavior of children and adolescents is an important factor in assessing mental health in child psychiatry. Unfortunately, in Latvia there is no published data on the expression of externalization and the factors influencing it. This study evaluated the externalizing behavior of 71 patients in the Psychiatry Department of the Bērnu Klīniskā Universitātes Slimnīca and the factors that may influence it, such as gender, familial affluence, and high-risk behavior. A questionnaire method with the screening tool SDQ-9 (Strengths and Difficulties Questionairre) was used and additional questions from the HBSC (Health Behavior in School-aged Children) questionnaire were used to identify risk factors. In contrast to the scientific literature, the study group found no differences in the degree of externalization by gender or familial affluence. A statistically significant difference was found in the use of psychotropic substances by patients in terms of externalizing behavior. More specifically, patients with high hyperactivity experienced early alcohol use and more frequently used intoxicants such as tobacco, alcohol and marijuana.
