dc.description.abstract | Author: Amanda Strēle Supervisor: Dr.med., Assistant Professor Toms Pulmanis Theme of the bachelor’s work: Association between partner’s attendance and primipara’s psycho-emotional factors at childbirth and postpartum Purpose of the bachelor’s work: To evaluate the association between partner's participation and psycho-emotional factors during childbirth and postpartum period Materials and methods: In the development of the outcomes, the facts obtained the usage of the questionnaire are analyzed, one part which describes the psychoemotional factors at childbirth and is based at the scientific literature, but the other consists of the DASS-42 anxiety and stress symptom scale. According to the answers of respondents, its determined whether the partners participation and its type are related to the prenatal psycho-emotional factors in childbirth and the postnatal period and the way they differed in each study group. The psycho-emotional factors of the primipara are described in the organizations of partner participation and its types. Data processing has been analyzed under IBM SPSS methods of the descriptive statistics and MS Excel. Main conclusions: The majority or 75% of all respondents included in the study are primiparas, whose births were attended by a partner. Partner participation in childbirth generally contributes to a better psycho-emotional experience of childbirth. 40.4% of childbirth partners tend to take on the role of observer during childbirth, rather than practically participating in the birth process. The partner's emotional, physical, or emotional and physical support during childbirth reduces the development of anxiety and stress symptoms in the postpartum period. In Latvia, it would be necessary to motivate a midwife to cooperate not only with the mother, but also with the mother's partner to ensure full involvement of the partner in the birth process, thus providing the woman with conditions for a positive birth experience, reducing stress and anxiety in the postpartum period.
