Abstract: | Darba nosaukums: Sistemātisks literatūras pārskats: Runas terapiju efektivitātes salīdzinājums bērniem ar aukslēju šķeltnēm

Title of the thesis: Systematic literature review: Effectiveness comparison of speech therapies for children with cleft palate. Research question: Is linguistic-phonological speech therapy more effective than motor-phonetic speech therapy for children with cleft palate? Aim of the thesis: Systematically collect and analyse the available scientific literature on speech therapies for children with cleft palate, and to compare the effectiveness of motor-phonetic and linguistic-phonological therapy. Methods: Four databases were used for the selection of scientific studies - EBSCOhost, ScienceDirect, PubMed, ProQuest. According to the PRISMA Flow diagram and the proposed inclusion, exclusion criteria, 3 publications were selected to be included in this work. The quality of studies was evaluated according to the PEDro scale. Results: Both motor-phonetic and linguistic-phonological speech therapy can have a positive effect on cleft palate speech intelligibility, nasality and nasal air emission, but it was observed that groups receiving linguistic-phonological speech therapy had a higher percentage of consonants produced correctly than participants of the motor-phonetic therapy group. In children with non-oral speech errors, no significant differences were observed between the effectiveness of the two therapies, both nasality, speech intelligibility and pronunciation of sounds were positively affected. Conclusions: For patients with cleft palate, linguistic-phonological therapy is more effective than motor-phonetic speech therapy for improving active or compensatory speech errors. Both linguistic-phonological and motor-phonetic speech therapy have a positive effect on speech intelligibility, consonant pronunciation, hypernasality and nasal air emission in cleft palate patients. Currently, speech and language therapists mostly use motor-phonetic therapy and its elements to improve the speech quality of cleft palate patients, because linguistic-phonological speech therapy is poorly described and there are not enough studies on its effectiveness. It is necessary to conduct additional studies with a larger number of participants. Keywords: cleft palate, speech, motor-phonetic, linguistic-phonological, therapy, approach, intervention. |
