Abstract: | Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt augstskolas studentu stresa saistību ar motivāciju mācību
procesā. Pētījums balstās uz pašnoteikšanās teoriju (Self-determination theory, Deci & Ryan,
tika izmantota Depresijas, trauksmes un stresa aptauja (Depression Anxiety Stress Scales;
Lovibond, S. & Lovibond, P., 1995; adaptāciju latviešu valodā veica Ozoliņa, Z., Mārtinsone,K.,
Perepjolkina, V., 2015) un Situatīvās motivācijas skala (Situational Motivation Scale, SIMS;
The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between stress and motivation in the educational process among students. The study is based on Self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 1985). Based on self-determination theory, the Situational Motivational Scale (SIMS) measures students' situational motivation (Guay et al., 2000). In order to achieve the aim of the study, the research questions were: Is there a relationship between student stress and motivation in the learning process? Are there gender differences in stress and motivation scores of university students in the learning process? The study involved 64 respondents (75% female) who are university students aged 18-25 years, with latvian as their first language. The questionnaire was developed using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (Lovibond, S. & Lovibond, P., 1995; adapted into latvian by Ozoliņa, Z., Martinsone,K., Perepjolkina, V., 2015) and the Situational Motivation Scale (SIMS; Guay, F., Robert, J., Vallerand, R. J. & Blanchard, C., 2000; latvian adaptation by Ābola, E., 2014). From 6 March 2023 to 12 April 2023, data collection was carried out through a Google Forms online survey. The correlation analysis did not find statistically significant positive correlations between stress and amotivation (r = 0.09), nor between stress and the extrinsic motivation subscales (r = 0.19), suggesting a lack of association between stress and intrinsic motivation (r = 0.00). After the analysis, it was noted that women have higher stress scores (M=22.02, SD=10.19) than men (M=14.43, SD=9.98), but these differences are not statistically significant. The results of the study allow us to conclude that no relationship was found between stress and motivation in the learning process of university students and no gender differences were found in stress and motivation scores in the learning process of university students. The data and information gathered from this undergraduate thesis can be used to conduct interventions in higher education institutions to prevent stress and improve academic achievement and motivation in students. |
