20.gadsimta atveidojums Latvijā tapušajās vēsturiskā žanra filmās (2018 – 2022).

Abstract

Bakalaura darba “20. gadsimta atveidojums Latvijā tapušajās vēsturiskā žanra filmās (2018–2022)” mērķis ir apkopot to, kādas tendences sastopamas, atveidojot 20. gadsimta laika posmus vēsturiskā žanra filmās, kas tapušas Latvijā 2018. – 2022. gadā. Darbam tika izvirzīti divi pētnieciskie jautājumi: 1) Ar kādiem kino valodas līdzekļiem tiek atspoguļoti 20.gs. laika posmi Latvijas vēsturiskā žanra filmās? 2) Kā apskatītie kino valodas līdzekļi palīdz atveidot konkrētu laika periodu filmā? Darba teorētisko daļu veido trīs nodaļas. Pirmajā tiek aprakstīta situācija un aktualitātes Latvijas kino nozarē. Otrajā nodaļā apkopotas dažādu autoru idejas un skaidrojumi saistībā ar to, kas ir vēsturiskais žanrs. Tiek uzsvērta vēsturiskā žanra aktualitāte Latvijā ražotajās kinofilmās. Trešajā teorētiskās daļas nodaļā aprakstīti kino valodas elementi jeb kino semiotikas koncepts un to saistība ar vēsturisko žanru. Pētījuma metode ir vizuālā semiotiskā analīze. Tā izvēlēta, jo šādi var detalizēti pārskatīt filmā sastopamās zīmes, kas šajā gadījumā norāda uz 20. gs. laikposmu atveidojumu filmās. Izlases kārtībā analīzei tika izvēlētas četras Latvijas vēsturiskā žanra filmas. Analizētās filmas ir: “Janvāris”(2022), “Tizlenes”(2021), “Tēvs nakts”(2018) un “Homo Novus”(2018). Filmas tika segmentētas pa epizodēm, katrā no tām pievēršot uzmanību videi, varoņu izskatam, apgaismojumam un tonējumam, mūzikai, kadrējuma aspektiem, kā arī intertekstualitātei. Iegūtie rezultāti tika apkopoti tabulās. Analīzes procesā iegūtie rezultāti rāda, ka kino valodas līdzekļi, ar ko radīts 20. gs. laikposmu atspoguļojums Latvijas vēsturiskā žanra filmās, ir: intertekstualitāte, skaņa, kadra tonalitāte un gaisma, izmantotā valoda un tekstveida uzraksti, kadra kompozīcija, tas no kāda skatupunkta strukturēts stāsts (subjektivitāte), kā arī vide un tēlu izskats. Daži no kino valodas līdzekļiem, kas palīdz atveidot konkrētu laikposmu, bija jau zināmi un paredzami, līdz ar to darbā tika pierādīts, ka tie tiek izmantoti arī Latvijas vēsturiskajās filmās, lai radītu perioda sajūtu. Darba gaitā atklājās arī jauni veidi, kā audiovizuālā darbā iespējams atveidot pagātnes atmosfēru.

The aim of the bachelor's thesis “Representation of the 20th century in historical genre films made in Latvia (2018–2022)” is to summarize what trends occur in the representation of periods of the 20th century in historical genre films made in Latvia in 2018-2022. Two research questions were defined: 1) With what elements of film language are the 20th century time periods reflected in Latvian historical genre films? 2) How do the examined elements of film language help to represent a specific period in the film? The theoretical part of the work consists of three chapters. The first chapter describes the current situation and events in the Latvian cinema industry. The second chapter summarizes ideas and explanations of various authors regarding what is historical genre. The relevance of the historical genre in motion pictures produced in Latvia is emphasized. The third chapter of the theoretical part describes the concept of cinema semiotics and their relationship with the historical genre. The research method in this paper is visual semiotic analysis. This method was chosen because it gives opportunity to review in detail the signs found in the film, which in this case indicate the 20th century period representations in films. Four films of Latvian historical genre were selected for analysis. The films analysed are: “Janvāris” (2022), “Tizlenes” (2021), “Tēvs nakts” (2018) and “Homo Novus” (2018). The films were segmented into episodes, each focusing on setting, character appearance, lighting and colour tone, music, framing aspects, and intertextuality. The obtained results were summarized in tables. The results show that the elements of the cinema language, which represent the 20th century periods in Latvian historical films are: intertextuality, sound (music), lighting and colour tone, the language used (also textual inscriptions), the composition of the shot, the story structured from a certain point of view (subjectivity), as well as the environment and the appearance of the characters. Some of the cinematic language elements which help to reproduce a specific period, were already known and expected, therefore, it was proved in the paper that they are also used in Latvian historical films to create a sense of the period. In the course of the work new ways of reproducing the atmosphere of the past in audio-visual work were also revealed.
