Kopsavilkums

This thesis is devoted to the study and analysis of the specific aspects of developing speed-strength abilities and puck control in 11-year-old hockey players. Ice hockey is a dynamic sport in which the player’s physical and technical preparedness plays a significant role. An important component of physical fitness in children’s hockey is speed-strength, which ensures the ability to develop high movement speed and explosive power within a short period of time. Puck control is one of the main technical skills required for successful game performance. The theoretical part of the qualification paper analyzes methodological literature on the development of children’s physical fitness, with particular attention paid to methods and means of speed-strength development, as well as principles of training load distribution in the U11 age group. The study characterizes the age- and gender-specific features of 11-year-old children, trends in physical development, and the development of coordination abilities. The paper also examines training methods used in children’s hockey, tools for evaluating technical preparedness, and the importance of puck control in improving game performance quality. The practical part summarizes and develops various speed-strength and puck control exercises for 11-year-old hockey players. The thesis includes exercise descriptions, methodological guidelines, and schematic illustrations that help organize an appropriate training process. Puck control testing tasks and approximate performance standards for U11 players were also developed, allowing coaches to assess technical preparedness and monitor athletes’ development dynamics. The results confirm that a properly organized and systematic speed-strength and puck control training process improves children’s skating speed, coordination, reaction abilities, and the quality of technical performance. The study concludes that at the U11 age, it is especially important to use play-based, competitive, and varied movement methods that help maintain children’s motivation and promote physical development. The developed material may be useful for children’s hockey coaches in planning and organizing the training process.
