Vecāku loma bērnu seksuālās un reproduktīvās veselības izglītošanā.

Abstract

Veselības mācība Latvijā nav obligāts mācību priekšmets. Pētījuma mērķis bija izvērtēt vecāku lomu bērnu seksuālās un reproduktīvās veselības izglītošanā.

Vecāki kuru bērni bija vecumā no 3 līdz 17 gadiem aizpildīja anketu internetā, kura sastāvēja no jautājumiem par vecāku un bērnu attiecībām, uzskatiem runājot par seksuāla un reproduktīva rakstura tēmām. Aptaujā tika iekļauti arī jautājumi par vecāku seksuālo un reproduktīvo izglītību kā bērniem. Dati tika analizēti izmantojot Hī kvadrāta testu un aprakstošo statistiku.

Vairums respondentu uzskatīja, ka vecākiem vajadzētu izglītot bērnus par seksuālo un reproduktīvo veselību. Nepastāv statistiski ticama sakarība starp vecāku vecumu, izglītību un to kādas metodes viņi pielieto izglītojot savus bērnus par seksuālo un reproduktīvo veselību. Vispopulārākās izglītošanas metodes bija – personiskā pieredze, medicīnas literatūra un populārzinātniskā literatūra. Dati apstiprināja, kā jaunāki vecāki kā bērni savas pamata zināšanas par seksuālo un reproduktīvo veselību ieguva no saviem vecākiem. Tikai neliela daļa vecāku kā bērni savas pamata zināšanas par seksuālo un reproduktīvo veselību ieguva no saviem vecākiem. Vairums respondentu vecāku nepiedalījās savu bērnu seksuālās un reproduktīvās veselības izglītošanā.

Vairums vecāku kā bērni par seksuālo un reproduktīvo veselību netika izglītoti no saviem vecākiem. Tomēr, respondenti apstiprināja, ka galvenā loma bērnu seksuālās un reproduktīvās veselības izglītošanā ir vecākiem.

Health education in schools is not mandatory in Latvia. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of parents in educating children about sexual and reproductive health.

Parents whose children were aged 3-17 completed the online survey of a various questions on parent - children’s relationships and views on sexual education topics, including questions for parents about their sexual and reproductive education as children. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square Tests and Descriptive Statistics.

Most respondents admitted that parents should be the one that educate children about sexual and reproductive health. There were no significant association between parents age and education to which methods they use to educate their children about sex and reproduction. Educating methods parents most often used were - personal experience, medical literature, popular science literature. Data showed that younger parents as children gained their prime knowledge about sexual health from their parents. Only few parents as children gained their prime education about sexual and reproductive health by their parents. Most respondents’ parents were not involved in their children education about sex and reproduction.

The majority of parents as children were not educated about sexual and reproduction health by their parents. Nevertheless respondents confirmed that the main role of educating children in this field should be parents themselves.
