Shift work has a significant impact on workers´ health. It was possible to verify higher scores on the depression and anxiety scales, sleep disturbances, and worse consequences in the social life of the shift workers compared with non-shift workers. There were 120 workers who replied to the questionnaire. Regarding significant depression, it affects 26.9% of the shift workers while only affecting 5.7% of non-shift workers. A similar situation happened with clinically significant anxiety symptoms where 32.8 % of shift workers were affected compared with 7.6 % of the non-shift workers. There were statically significant differences in the PHQ-9 mean scores, GAD-7 mean score, social life, sleep disturbances, and driving accidents. The shift workers believed that support from their family, friends, romantic partners, and a healthy lifestyle are the best strategies to improve their well-being. Considering this, it is crucial to know how to identify these drawbacks and adopt the necessary measures to minimize the effects of shift work on the worker’s health.
