Tethered Oral Tissues: Signs, Symptoms, Assessments and Treatment Principles

Abstract

Ievads: Šajā pētījumā tika novērtētas piesieto mutes audu klīniskās pazīmes, simptomi, novērtējumi, kā arī piesieto mutes audu ārstēšanas iespējas. Mērķis: Šī literatūras apskata mērķis ir sniegt zināšanas par piesietiem mutes dobuma audiem medicīnas un mutes veselības aprūpes sabiedrībai. Secinājumi: Piesietie mutes dobuma audi ietver mēles, lūpu un vaigu audu saites. Simptomi un pazīmes, kas ir saistītas ar piesietiem mutes audiem, ir saistītas ar zīdīšanu, ēšanu, runu, sociālajām, zobu un skeleta problēmām. Lai varētu diagnosticēt piesietos mutes audus, jāveic atbilstoša klīniskā izmeklēšana, jāizvērtē izskats, mēles un lūpas funkcionēšanas spējas, jāņem vērā zīdaiņa un mātes simptomi. Ārstēšanas iespējas ietver novērošanu, runas terapiju un ķirurģisku ārstēšanu.

Background: This study assessed clinical signs, symptoms, assessments of tethered oral tissues (TOTs) as well treatment modalities of TOTs. Aim: This literature review aims to provide knowledge about tethered oral tissues for the medical and oral health care community. Conclusions: TOTs include ties of the tongue, lip, and buccal tissues. Symptoms and signs that are associated with TOTs are related to breastfeeding, eating, speech, social, dental, and skeletal problems. To be able to diagnose TOTs proper clinical examination must be done; evaluation of appearance, the ability of the tongue and the lip to function, consideration of infant`s and mother’s symptoms. Treatment options include observation, speech therapy, and surgical treatment.
