Correlation of Critical Thinking Dispositions to Conspiracy Ideation

Abstract

Šajā darbā es esmu novērtējis, salīdzinājis un analizējis pieejamo zinātnisko literatūru par kritisko domāšanu un ticību sazvērestības teorijām. Es koncentrējos uz kritiskās domāšanas dispozicionālo jomu un tās saistību ar ticību sazvērestībām, izvirzot hipotēzi, ka pastāv kritiska sakarība starp kritiskās domāšanas paradumiem un iecerēm sazvērestībā. Izpētot sazvērestību ticības būtību, kādas pilsoniskās izmaksas viņi apgalvo, iespējamos šādas pārliecības cēloņus, kā arī to, kāda ir kritiskās domāšanas loma sazvērestības teoriju uztverē un novērtēšanā, esmu secinājis, ka daži kritiskās domāšanas paradumi parāda negatīvu saistību ar sazvērestības idejas, bet citas - pozitīvas. Šie atklājumi apstiprina manu hipotēzi un aicina turpināt pētījumus par šo tēmu.

In this this work I have evaluated, compared and analyzed available scientific literature on critical thinking and belief in conspiracy theories. I have focus on the dispositional domain of critical thinking and its association to belief in conspiracies, hypothesizing that there is negative correlation between critical thinking dispositions and conspiracy ideation. Investigating the nature of belief in conspiracies, what civic cost they claim, possible causes for such beliefs as well as what role does critical thinking play in the way conspiracy theories are perceived and evaluated, I have concluded that some critical thinking dispositions show negative association to conspiracy ideation while other dispositions, a positive one. These finding support my hypothesis and call on further research on this topic.
