After the detailed analysis of lifetime prevalence of external stigma in association with sociodemographic factors, only age group, and employment status show statistically significant association. Drug uses (used) are stigmatized more in association with external stigma. External stigma is more prevalent to achieve the personal and professional goal (17.2%), ability to cope up with stress (17.4%), ability to respect others (10.5%), develop self-confidence (4.6%), and develop a desire to have children (4.3%). External stigma is strongly associated with age group, employment status, drug abuse, and internal stigma showing the need to take those into account when considering the stigma among people living with HIV in Latvia as an issue in public health research and practice. |
