Abstract: | Kvalifikācijas darba tēma - “Masāžas izvēles un apmeklējuma izpēte Latvijas reģionos”
nacionālā komplementārās un integratīvās veselības centrs (National Center for
Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH)) rakstot, ka risks no masāžas gūt negatīvu
anketas no 711, kuras atbilda iekļaušanās kritērijam.
The theme of qualification work - “Massage Services: Research on the Regional Customer Decision-making and Attendance in Latvia” – is important because although research has shown that the use of massages can improve health and prevent various health problems, the choice of inappropriate massages and non-professionals can have negative consequences. The American National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) has also pointed out that the risk of the negative effects of massage appears to be low, but there have been reports of blood clots, nerve damage and bone fractures. (NCCIH, 2019) The purpose of this qualification paper is to explore which types of massages are the most demanded, what is taken into account when choosing a massage in various regions across Latvia, and do Latvian residents understand the different specifics of each kind of massage. In order to obtain data, the author used a questionnaire created by himself for a survey of Latvian residents, which included 16 questions. A total of 889 Latvian residents were surveyed, but when compiling the data, the proportional distribution of the Latvian population in all planning regions was taken into account, thus 652 questionnaires out of 711 that met the inclusion criteria were used to summarize and analyze the results. As a result, it was concluded that massage is a demanded service among respondents, which is used by more than half of respondents several times a year. Respondents most often attend therapeutic massages, classical or Swedish massages, relaxing massages and massages of a specific part of the body. The main reasons for attending massages have been the need to relax, received a gift card, preventive intentions and health problems. More than a quarter of respondents have had a negative experience during or after a massage. Respondents' understanding of the specifics of various massages is assessed negatively, as well as the available information about massage, its types and their specifics is not considered sufficient. Massage practitioners can use this qualification paper to understand and adapt to consumer trends in the decision-making and attendance of massage services. It also provides insight into the lack of information related to massage, its types and specifics. The study can also be used as a basis for further in-depth research on a similar topic. |
