Abstract:
The pervasive use of air fresheners in households raises concerns about their potential health implications, given the emission of numerous chemicals into indoor air. This Literature review focus to the health effects associated with air freshener usage, particularly focusing on toxicity of chemicals emitted from air fresheners. These chemicals have been linked to respiratory, cardiovascular, and reproductive issues. Despite their wide use, air fresheners lack strict regulation, and product labels often provide insufficient information. Vulnerable populations, such as children, pregnant woman and asthmatics, face heightened risks. While some individuals may find positive emotions and increased wellbeing from air fresheners, all marketed products seem contain some harmful chemical. Improving indoor air quality through ventilation and source control is essential not trough air fresheners. Further research is needed to comprehensively assess the health impacts of air fresheners and inform better regulation and consumer awareness.
