This thesis provides a comprehensive examination of osteoarthritis (OA), a prevalent degenerative disease among the geriatric population, which significantly impairs joint function and leads to disability in daily tasks. The paper explores the multifaceted nature of OA, including its pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, risk factors. The primary objective of the thesis is to review established conservative treatment options and innovative approaches for knee osteoarthritis, aiming to compare traditional and novel methods to identify the most effective approach tailored to individual patient needs. The literature review methodology involved thorough research using primary sources from reputable databases such as UpToDate, Google Scholar, and PubMed, focusing on recent publications to ensure relevance to current therapeutic practices worldwide. The research prioritized validated methods while also exploring emerging approaches still under investigation or development. Prior to writing this thesis a journal paper on a similar topic was written and published in "International Journal of Medical Research and Review " and is the basis of this final thesis paper.en-UK
