Abstract:
This paper is a review of the current literature surrounding Femoral GSI with associated vascular trauma. 81 primary and secondary sources were used, including scientific and medical journals, webpages, books, and published university papers. We excluded sources older than 1979 to maintain a contemporary approach to the management options. Gunshot fractures of the femur associated with vascular injury pose significant challenges in trauma management, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of various aspects ranging from regional anatomy to advanced treatment modalities. Emphasis will be placed on the use of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) as this is a modern approach to haemorrhage control.
