dc.description.abstractRosacea is a highly stigmatizing disease as it affects the face and causes psychological distress for the affected patients. The current treatment options are not usually sufficient to treat the disease and there is often a recurrence of symptoms. It is important to understand the role of intestinal microbiota in the pathogenesis of rosacea and by that way in the future develop new treatment methods and possibly a curative therapy method. The ability to prevent and/or treat rosacea and other inflammatory skin diseases by modulating the gut microbiota could lead to a reduction in their prevalence, minimize the need for pharmaceutical interventions, and enhance understanding of the underlying mechanisms involved. Aim of this review is to synthesize and evaluate the existing research on association between intestinal microbiome composition and rosacea. To gain knowledge about the composition of gut microbiota in rosacea patients versus healthy individuals and by this way possible in the future treat rosacea by modification of the microbiome. To understand the intestinal dysbiosis as a promoting factor in the pathogenesis of inflammatory cutaneous diseases. Objectives of the research paper is to gain understanding about the pathophysiology of rosacea and how intestinal microbiota is associated with it. To understand which micro-organisms according to the current research are associated with rosacea.en-UK
