Burnout syndrome is described as a result of a stressful workplace without proper management and is characterized by energy depletion, mental distance from the workplace, and decreased professional effectiveness. Being an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) worker and practicing emergency care are highly stressful experiences that put a heavy emotional strain on the EMS workers, putting them at a high risk of burnout. Emergency department workers are vulnerable to burnout syndrome because of their heavy workloads and increased patient expectations. Therefore, the wellness of the EMS workers and awareness of the daily stress and heavy workload they must endure are essential to preventing burnout syndrome.en-UK
