Abstract:
This research paper provides a comprehensive overview of the relationship between occupational heavy metal exposure and liver pathologies. Elaborating on the hepatotoxic mechanisms of mercury, lead and cadmium, the diverse impacts on the liver parenchyma are clearly illustrated. There is clear evidence which highlights a proportionate relationship between duration of exposure and extensiveness of pathological changes in hepatocytes which is supported by a variety of studies. While hepatic damage might be extensive, the article also concludes that multiple organ involvement is usually the case and has to be taken into account when researching this topic. This source would be valuable for anyone researching the negative health impacts of heavy metals and provides a good foundation to further explore the topic.
