Abstract

Pētnieciskie jautājumi: Kā Latvijā praktizējošie audiologopēdi apraksta savu profesionālo identitāti? Kādi elementi veido audiologopēdu profesionālo identitāti? Kādi faktori nosaka audiologopēdu profesionālās identitātes veidošanos? Pētījuma mērķis: Raksturot Latvijā praktizējošo audiologopēdu profesionālo identitāti un noskaidrot faktorus, kas nosaka tās veidošanos. Pētījuma metodes: Veikts kvalitatīvs fenomenoloģisks pētījums, kurā piedalījās deviņi Latvijā praktizējošie audiologopēdi, kas mērķtiecīgi tika atlasīti, balstoties uz viņu izglītību, darba pieredzi, darbības jomu, pedagoģisko un zinātnisko darbību. Veiktas daļēji strukturētās intervijas, kas tika ierakstītas un transkribētas, izmantojot Transcriptor programmu. Veikta interviju satura fenomenoloģiskā analīze, izmantojot interpretatīvo datu analīzes pieeju. Formulētas tēmas un apakštēmas, kas raksturo audiologopēdu profesionālās identitātes fenomenu. Pētījuma rezultāti: Interviju satura analīzes rezultātā formulētas sešas tēmas, kas apraksta audiologopēdu profesionālās identitātes fenomenu, t.i., profesionālās identitātes jēdziena izpratne, profesionālās iemaņas un prasmes, audiologopēda personības īpašības, profesionālo identitāti nosakošie faktori, ar profesiju saistītie izaicinājumi un profesionālās attīstība iespējas. Pirmā tēmā tiek apskatīts, kā audiologopēdi definē savu profesionālo identitāti, savukārt tēmas profesionālās iemaņas un prasmes un audiologopēda personības īpašības iekļauj audiologopēdu profesionālās identitātes elementus. Faktori, kas nosaka profesionālās identitātes veidošanos tika sadalīti divās grupās – ārējie un iekšējie. Papildus dalībnieki iezīmēja vairākus izaicinājumus ar kuriem saskarās strādājot profesijā, kā arī minēja iespējas, kā varētu attīstīt gan profesiju kopumā, gan audiologopēdu profesionālo identitāti. Secinājumi: Audiologopēdi profesionālo identitāti raksturo kā individuālo un dinamisko konceptu, kas balstās uz profesionālajām zināšanām, prasmēm, pieredzi un ļauj cilvēkam skaidri definēt sevi, savu lomu un piederību profesijai. Audiologopēdu profesionālās identitātes galvenie elementi ir profesionālās iemaņas, prasmes un noteikts personības īpašību kopums. Profesionālās identitātes attīstību nosaka daudzi faktori, piemēram, pieredze, zināšanas, darbavieta un sadarbības prasmes.

Research questions: How do speech and language therapists (SLT) practicing in Latvia describe their professional identity? What elements make up the professional identity of SLT? What factors determine the formation of professional identity of SLT? The aim of the study: To describe the professional identity of practicing SLT in Latvia and identify the factors that determine its formation. Research methods: A qualitative phenomenological study was conducted with nine SLT practicing in Latvia who were selected based on their education, work experience, field of practice, pedagogical and scientific activities. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, recorded and transcribed using Transcriptor software. A phenomenological analysis of the content of the interviews was carried out using an interpretative data analysis approach. Themes and sub-themes describing the phenomenon of professional identity of SLT were formulated. Results of the study: The content analysis of the interviews led to the formulation of six themes describing the phenomenon of professional identity of SLT, i.e. understanding the concept of professional identity, professional skills and competences, personal characteristics of SLT, factors determining professional identity, challenges related to the profession and opportunities for professional development. The first theme explores how SLT define their professional identity, while the professional skills and competences and personal qualities of SLT themes include elements of SLT’ professional identity. The factors that determine the formation of professional identity were divided into two groups: external and internal. In addition, participants outlined a number of challenges they faced in the profession and gave options on how both the profession as a whole and the professional identity of SLT could be developed. Conclusions: SLT describe professional identity as an individual and dynamic concept based on professional knowledge, skills and experience, which allows people to clearly define themselves, their role and their belonging to the profession. The key elements of professional identity for SLT are professional skills and competences and a defined set of personal characteristics. The development of a professional identity is determined by many factors, such as experience, knowledge, workplace and collaboration skills.
