Psihiskās veselības atspoguļojums Latvijas ziņu portālos 2023.gadā: naratīva analīze.

Abstract

Maģistra darba tēma ir “Psihiskās veselības atspoguļojums Latvijas ziņu portālos 2023.gadā: naratīva analīze”. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kādi naratīvi dominē Latvijas populārāko ziņu portālu saturā par psihiskās veselības tēmu, lai izstrādātu rekomendācijas Latvijas medijiem par psihisko veselību. Maģistra darbs sastāv no 2 galvenajām daļām – teorētiskās un empīriskās daļas. Teorētiskajā daļā tiek apskatīta teorija par psihiskās veselības situāciju Latvijā, kas ietver iedzīvotāju psihiskās veselības stāvokļa un politikas dokumentu pārskatu. Tiks apskatīta žurnālistikas prakse psihiskās veselības tēmas atspoguļošanā, apkopojot informāciju par žurnālistu izaicinājumiem un labo praksi, atspoguļojot psihiskās veselības tēmu, kā arī tiks apskatīts šī darba teorētiskais ietvars – dienas kārtības teorija, naratīva teorija un galvenā izmantotā metode – naratīva analīze. Kā pētāmais objekts izvirzīts interneta ziņu portālu saturs par psihisko veselību. Pētāmais priekšmets ir mediju naratīvi par psihisko veselību Latvijas populārākajos interneta ziņu portālos – Delfi.lv, Tvnet.lv, Lsm.lv, Jauns.lv, Nra.lv, Tv3.lv, Apollo.lv un La.lv. Pētāmais priekšmets ir interneta ziņu portālu saturs par psihisko veselību. Savukārt, empīriskajā daļā tiek analizēti rezultāti, kas iegūti no trīs pētījuma metodēm – satura kvantitatīvās analīzes, naratīva analīzes un daļēji strukturētajām intervijām ar sabiedrības veselības un psihoterapijas ekspertiem. Ar satura kvantitatīvo analīzi tiks analizēts interneta ziņu portālu saturs par psihisko veselību un kā mediji atspoguļo psihiskās veselības tēmu interneta ziņu portālos. Ar naratīva analīzi tiks noskaidroti dominējošie naratīvi par psihisko veselību astoņos Latvijas interneta ziņu portālos 2023. gadā. Savukārt, daļēji strukturētās intervijas palīdzēs iegūt sabiedrības veselības un psihoterapijas ekspertu viedokli par psihiskās veselības atspoguļojumu medijos, esošās situācijas novērtēšanu un viņu rekomendācijas šīs tēmas atspoguļošanā. Darbā tika sasniegts darba mērķis un atbildēts uz pētāmo jautājumu, kā rezultātā tika noskaidroti septiņi dominējošie naratīvi astoņos populārākajos Latvijas ziņu portālos 2023. gadā. Tāpat tika izstrādātas rekomendācijas, lai veicinātu atbildīgu, objektīvu, daudzpusīgu un kvalitatīvu ziņošanu par psihiskās veselības tēmu, ar ko tika iepazīstināti Latvijas mediju profesionāļi. Tika secināts, ka interneta ziņu portālos visbiežāk izmantotais naratīvs ir “valstij jāuzlabo veselības aprūpe un atbalsts, lai palīdzētu cilvēkiem ar psihiskās veselības problēmām” un “psihiskās veselības problēmas pieaug, tādēļ jāpievērš uzmanība izglītošanai par prevenciju”. Latvijā nav veikti pētījumi par medijos valdošajiem naratīviem par psihisko veselību, līdz ar to šāda veida pētījumus var attīstīt nākotnē.

Master's thesis "Coverage of Mental Health in Latvian News Portals in 2023: Narrative Analysis" aims to understand which narratives dominate the content of the most popular Latvian news portals on the topic of mental health, to develop recommendations for the Latvian media. The master's thesis consists of 2 parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part examines the theory of the mental health situation in Latvia, which includes the state of the mental health of the population and a review of policy documents, the good practice of journalism in covering mental health topics, as well as examining the theoretical framework of the work – agenda, and narrative theory. The empirical part analyzes the results obtained from three research methods – quantitative and narrative content analysis and semi-structured interviews with public health and psychotherapy experts. Quantitative analysis of content will analyze how the media covers the topic of mental health in news portals. Narrative analysis will reveal the dominant narratives about mental health. And semi-structured interviews will help to get the opinion of public health and psychotherapy experts on the coverage of mental health in the media and their recommendations for covering this topic. The goal of the work was achieved, and the research question was answered, as a result, the seven dominant narratives in the eight most popular Latvian news portals in 2023 were clarified. Recommendations were developed to promote responsible, objective, versatile, and high-quality reporting on the topic of mental health, which was introduced to Latvian media professionals. It was concluded that the most frequently used narrative was that the country should improve health care and support to help people with mental health problems, as well as the narrative that mental health problems are on the rise, so attention should be paid to education about prevention. No research has been conducted in Latvia on the narratives about mental health in the media. It is possible to continue and develop the conducted research to understand how narratives have changed over time, as well as to study not only narratives in the form of texts, but also in visual communication and what is the public's attitude towards the narratives prevailing in the media.
