Abstract: | Vestibulārie traucējumi ietver plašu slimību klāstu, aptverot gan otolaringoloģijas, gan neiroloģijas specialitāšu kompetences. Vestibular disorders include a wide spectrum of diseases, including otolaryngology as well as neurology competencies. The most common symptom of vestibular disorders is dizziness, which can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, gait and/or postural instability. In a general population, dizziness is a commonly encountered symptom with its 1-year prevalence being 5 %, leaving to negative impact on many aspects of patients' quality of life and associating with high psychiatric disorder comorbidity. The literature review aimed to systematize current scientific data about the treatment options for specific vestibular disorders – vestibular migraine, persistent postural-perceptual dizziness, and bilateral vestibulopathy, including medicamentous treatment as well as non-pharmacological intervences. Summarization of the current treatment possibilities can serve as an effective tool to assist in a choice of the most effective treatment option, depending on the etiology of the vestibular disorder, therefore improving patients' quality of life and ultimately decreasing health care costs. |
