Pilna teksta
raksti angļu valodā tika publicēti pēdējos 15 gados (2007 2022). Informācijas ievākšana notika no
Saistībā ar to, ka
nepieciešams pievērst lielāku uzmanību mutes Abstract The body's mucous membranes are the focus of the fungal infection known as candidosis. The most prevalent fungal infection of the mouth is oral candidosis which manifests as a multitude of forms, either as white or erythematous lesions. Due to the high incidence rate, it is important to determine the possible contributing factors for the condition's emergence. The aim of this literature review is therefore to investigate how different forms of oral candidosis manifest and the potential factors that increase the risk of its development. Effective prevention strategies and treatment methods are further discussed, which is beneficial in advancing understanding for both clinician and patient. The online databases utilised were PubMed, ScienceDirect, BMJ and Wiley, which were accessed via Riga Stradinš University. A total of 39 scientific papers, literature reviews and studies were evaluated to gather relevant information for this topic. The full texts were accessible in English and were published in the last 15 years (2007-2022). The collated content occurred between September 2022 and November 2022. On occasion oral candidosis may mimic the appearance of leukoplakia or carcinomas necessitating further testing to rule out malignancy. Concurrent identification and treatment of underlying predisposing variables simultaneously, as well as being routinely monitored is vital to manage oral candidosis. With the uprise of non-Candida albican species becoming resistant to certain anti-fungals, more attention should be paid to diagnosing and treating oral Candida infections, as well as other Candida species besides C. albicans. |
