Latvia's country image in the framework of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

Abstract

Maģistra darba "Latvijas valsts tēls Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO) ietvaros" aktualitāti un nozīmību galvenokārt nosaka fakts, ka mūsdienās starp valstīm pastāv savstarpēja konkurence daudzās jomās, līdz ar to daudzos gadījumos izcelties un veiksmīgi pārstāvēt un aizstāvēt savas intereses starptautisko organizāciju ietvaros, kuru dalībniece ir valsts, var palīdzēt skaidri izveidota valsts tēla stratēģija. Valsts tēls ir nozīmīgs tādēļ, ka tas palīdz veicināt valsts reputāciju visā valstu savstarpējo attiecību sistēmā. Veiksmīgs valsts tēls ļauj izcelt valsts stiprās puses. Latvija ir dalībniece vairākās starptautiskās organizācijās, tai skaitā Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO). Neskatoties uz to, ka 2019. gadā Latvijas Republikas valdība ir atzinusi kompetentās iestādes par atbildīgām par valsts tēla stratēģijas izstrādi, Latvijai joprojām nav vienotas tēla stratēģijas. Šī maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kāpēc vai kādu iemeslu dēļ Latvijas valsts tēls kavē tās darbību Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO) ietvaros. Maģistra darbā ir aplūkota valsts tēla būtība, veiksmīgas valsts tēla stratēģijas elementi, pašreizējā situācija vienotas Latvijas tēla stratēģijas izstrādē, valsts nostāja attiecībā uz valsts tēla stratēģiju, Latvijas iestāšanās process Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO), Latvijas darbība Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO) ietvaros un paredzamie soļi vienotas tēla stratēģijas izstrādē. Papildus maģistra darbā tiks pētīti faktori, kas ietekmē Latvijas tēla uztveri Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO), faktori, kas ierobežo Latvijas dalību Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO), un faktori, kas veicina Latvijas darbību Ekonomiskās sadarbības un attīstības organizācijā (ESAO).

The relevance and significance of the master's thesis “Latvia's country image in the framework of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development” is primarily determined by the fact that today exist competition between countries in various fields, so in many cases a clearly formed country image strategy may help it to stand out against the background and successfully represent and protect its interests in the framework of the activities of international organizations in which it is a member. The importance of the formation of the image of the country lies in the fact that it helps the country in the whole system of mutual relations among the states. In addition, a successful national image of a country can emphasizes its advantages. Latvia is a member of many international organizations, including the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Despite the fact that the Latvian government recognized the competent authorities with the responsibility of developing the country's image strategy in 2019, Latvia still does not have a unified image strategy. The purpose of this master's thesis is to explore why or because of what Latvia's state image hinders its activities within the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Master's thesis covers the essence of the country's image, the elements of a successful image strategy, the current situation in developing a unified image strategy of Latvia, the national position regarding the country's image strategy, Latvian accession process in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Latvian activities within the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and expected steps towards the development of a unified image strategy. In addition, the master's thesis will examine the factors that affect the perception of Latvia within the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the factors that limit Latvia's participation in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the factors that facilitate Latvia's activities within the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
