Nāves tēmas reprezentācija latviešu laikmetīgajā mākslā un diskusijās par to Latvijas medijos.

Abstract

Maģistra darbs “Nāves tēmas reprezentācija latviešu laikmetīgajā mākslā un diskusijās par to Latvijas medijos” ir kvalitatīvs pētījums, kurā tiek analizēti trīs latviešu laikmetīgās mākslas darbi, kuros ir reprezentēti dažādi nāves tēmas attēlojumi: neidentificētu cilvēku nāve, nāves izraisītas sēras un nāves radītā realitāte, kā arī tiek analizēti divdesmit mediju raksti, kas diskutē par atlasītajiem mākslas darbiem un tajos attēloto nāves tēmu. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā Latvijas 21. gadsimta laikmetīgajā mākslā un diskusijās par to medijos tiek veidota cilvēka nāves tēmas reprezentācija. Laikmetīgā māksla apskata globālas tēmas, kuras mākslinieki mēdz traktēt caur personīgo pieredzi, to realizācijai bieži izmantojot radikālus paņēmienus. Šāda tendence ir īpaši izteikta darbos, kas reprezentē nāves tēmu. Tomēr ne vienmēr šādi darbi veicina diskusijas un izpratni par šo nopietno tēmu, tāpēc, ņemot vērā mediju kā mediatoru starp mākslinieku un sabiedrību, ir svarīgi noskaidrot, kā veidojas diskurss par šiem darbiem medijos. Pētījumā tika secināts, ka Latvija laikmetīgā mākslas aina piedāvā plašu nāves tēmas reprezentāciju, veidojot dinamisku vidi diskusiju veicināšanai un nāves tēmas izprašanai, tās attēlojumā izmantojot gan dažādus simbolu, gan rituālus, ko katrs mākslinieks interpretē pēc saviem uzskatiem dažādās tehnikās un materialitātē. Savukārt, medijos veidotās diskusijas par nāves tēmas reprezentāciju laikmetīgajā mākslā tikai daļēji veicina šīs tēmas izprašanu un veiksmīgu reprezentāciju, ņemot vērā kultūras žurnālistikas kritisko situāciju. Diviem no atlasītajiem mākslas darbiem tika identificēta tikai katram viena kvalitatīva recenzija, kas veido dinamisku nāves tēmas un mākslas reprezentāciju, traktējot to gan no vēsturiska konteksta, gan ieviešot dažādību nāves simbolu un rituālu interpretācijā, tekstā iekļaujot nāves diskursu. Mākslas darbam ar lielāko mediju publikāciju daudzumu tika konstatēts maz raktu, kas izmantotu nāves diskursu un diskutētu par attēloto nāves tēmu, fokusu vēršot autora mākslinieciskajai izpausmei un citiem mākslas darba aspektiem, kas norāda uz medijos pastāvošo ierobežojumu attiecībā pret nāvi un nāves tēmu. Pētījuma rezultāti ir noderīgi, lai veicinātu cilvēka nāves tēmas dinamisku izprašanu un diskusiju rašanos.

This master's thesis, "Representation of the theme of death in Latvian contemporary art and discussions about it in the Latvian media", is a qualitative study that analyzes three works of contemporary Latvian art in which there are different thematic representations of death: the death of unidentified people, mourning caused by death, and the reality created by death. Twenty media articles discussing the selected works of art and the theme of death depicted in them are also analyzed. The aim of the research is to understand how the theme of human death is represented in Latvian contemporary art of the 21st century and in discussions about it in the media. Contemporary art explores global themes, which artists tend to examine through personal experience, often using unique techniques. This tendency to leverage personal experience is especially observed in works that represent the theme of death. However, such works do not always contribute to discussions and understanding of this serious topic therefore, considering the media as a mediator between the artist and society, it is important to find out how the discourse about these works is formed in the media. The research concluded that the Latvian contemporary art scene offers a wide representation of the theme of death, creating a dynamic environment for promoting discussions and understanding the theme of death. Various symbols and rituals are used in its representation, which each artist interprets according to their own views, in different techniques and methods. On the other hand, the media discussions about the representation of the theme of death in contemporary art only partially contribute to the understanding and successful representation of this theme, in consideration of the critical situation of cultural journalism. Only one qualitative review was identified for two of the selected works of art, which create a dynamic representation of the theme of death and art, treating it both from a historical context and introducing variety in the interpretation of symbols and rituals of death, including the discourse of death in the text. In contrast to the work of art with the greatest media response, few samples were found that would use the discourse of death and discuss the depicted theme of death in a manner that focuses on the artistic expression of the author and other aspects of the work of art. This indicates the limitation existing in the media in relation to death and the theme of death. The results of the study can be used to create a dynamic understanding of the topic of human death and promote the emergence of discussions.
