Akūtas vēdera saslimšanas ir bieži sastopama parādība neatliekamās palīdzības nodaļā, kur ārkārtīgi liela nozīme ir ātrai un precīzai diagnozei. Mūsdienu attēlveidošanas metodēm, ārstam ir pieejams ļoti plašs iespēju klāsts, un ir svarīgi zināt indikācijas un atradumus dažādām modalitātēm. Attēlveidošana ir svarīga, lai izslēgtu un iekļautu diagnozes, kā arī paredzētu rezultātus, vadītu ārstēšanu un kopumā sniegtu lielisku pārskatu par patoloģiju. Dažādām attēlveidošanas metodēm ir sava nozīmīgā loma.

Acute abdomen is a common presentation in the emergency department where a quick and precise diagnose is of utmost importance. With modern imaging techniques a great variety of options are available to the physician, and it is important to know the indications and findings on the different modalities and presentations. Imaging is important in excluding and including diagnoses as well as predicting outcomes, guiding treatments and in general give a great overview over the pathology. The different imaging techniques each have their important role to play.
