| lv-LV |
dc.description.abstract | Besides the lungs, Covid-19 can affect almost any organ including the kidneys. Cases of new-onset IgA nephropathy have been reported after Covid-19 infection and vaccination. The study aims to examine the effect of Covid-19 infection and Covid-19 vaccination on the clinical course of IgA nephropathy in the Latvian population. In our study we looked at laboratory and clinical parameters of 81 patients and examined whether there was statistically significant difference between infected and noninfected as well as between vaccinated and non-vaccinated patients. We found out that Covid-19 infection does not seem to influence kidney function and the course of IgA nephropathy. Also, it seems that Covid-19 vaccination for IgA nephropathy patients can be recommended without major safety concerns. | en-UK |
