Non-Surgical and Surgical Treatment of Acute Appendicitis in Children. Literature Review of the Last 5 Years

Abstract

Akūts apendicīts ir viena no visbiežāk sastopamajām ķirurģiskajām izpausmēm bērnu populācijā. Ārstēšana pēdējo desmitgažu laikā ir mainījusies, un ir bijuši jauni pētījumi un ieteikumi. Šī literatūras apskata mērķis ir apkopot pēdējo piecu gadu jauno literatūru un noskaidrot, kādi ir aktuālie sasniegumi bērnu akūtā apendicīta ārstēšanā un sniegt lasītājam pārskatu par šobrīd izmantotajām metodēm un to efektivitāti, kā arī punkti, kuros ir nepieciešami turpmāki pētījumi, lai nākotnē atrastu labāko iespējamo ārstēšanu.

Acute appendicitis is one of the most common surgical presentations in the pediatric population. The treatment has changed over the past decades and there have been new studies and recommendations. The aim of this literature review is to summarize the new literature of the past five years and to find what is the current state-of-art in treatment of acute appendicitis in children and give the reader an overview of the currently used methods and their effectiveness as well as the points where further research is needed for finding the best possible treatment in the future.
