Abstract: | Maģistra darba mērķis — izstrādāt uz vizuālās metodes “3D emociju kompozīcija” jeb 3DEK balstītu vienas sesijas intervences protokolu, noskaidrot ekspertu vērtējumu un vēža pacientu pieredzi par vienas sesijas intervenci.
The aim of the master thesis is to develop a single-session intervention protocol based on the visual method “3D Emotion Composition” or 3DEK, to find out experts' assessment and cancer patients' experience of the single-session intervention. The theoretical part of the thesis provides information on the theoretical background and basic principles of Single-Session Intervention (hereafter — SSI), emotions and emotion regulation skills, psychoemotional characteristics of cancer patients and drama therapy for cancer patients with emotion regulation difficulties. The research was carried out in two phases: in the first phase, a SSI protocol was developed in a working group with colleagues Ance Insberga and Anete Porozova, based on the literature selected in the preparatory phase and an analysis that identifies the core principles of SSI. It is based on the following core principles of the SSI: promoting patient compassion, acceptance, the “here and now” concept, psychoeducation, promoting change, resource awareness. The protocol consists of six stages: (1) introduction; (2) assessment and psychoeducation on the functions of emotions; (3) awareness and acceptance of emotions, integrating psychoeducation and drama therapy techniques; (4) cognitive flexibility, integrating psychoeducation and drama therapy techniques; (5) skilful/alternative behaviour, integrating psychoeducation and drama therapy techniques; and (6) conclusion. The author of the study finds out the evaluation of experts, practicing art therapists specialised in drama therapy (n=3) on the developed protocol, which is evaluated in terms of compliance with the basic principles integrated in the protocol, compliance with the aim and objectives, compliance with the psychoeducational part content, compliance with the action part and drama therapy techniques included in it, use of metaphors, questions to be asked. The data collected are analysed by the author and the protocol is refined in a working group. In the second phase of the study, the author implements a single-session intervention in cancer patients (n=4) and ascertains patients' experiences. Main results: a single-session protocol for patients with emotion regulation difficulties and the experience of cancer patients. There is no single-session intervention in healthcare settings in Latvia, the author suggests how to implement a potentially effective intervention to successfully develop emotion regulation skills. |
