Kopsavilkums
Neurosarcoidosis is a rare complication of sarcoidosis, but in some cases it can become a potentially serious manifestation. All most important points will be explained (as brief history, epidemiology, general etiology and pathophysiology, clinical presentations, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis). This research will give more stress on symptoms and diagnosis, thus this disease can affect multiple parts of nervous system (cranial nerves, meninges, parenchyma, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system) and can require multiple diagnostic methods for a definitive diagnosis. The topic is very complex, particularly due to the plethora of unknown factors impacting on this disease. Only in the last years more and more clinicians and researchers understood the importance of this topic in health and disease. Neurosarcoidosis tends to occur in patients who have systemic features and active disease. The diagnosis is difficult and usually one of exclusion. Sometimes a nerve or muscle biopsy may reveal a non-caseating granuloma. Other laboratory tests can be made in order to ruling out differential diseases, and helping the diagnosis into giving some important clues that are specific to the disease. There is no cure of this complication, but generally long term treatment is needed.
