Kopsavilkums
DARBA MĒRĶIS: Analizēt dažādas kanāla skalošanas metodes endodontijā, novērtējot to efektivitāti un klīnisko pielietojumu.
Root canal irrigation is a crucial step in endodontic treatment, ensuring effective disinfection of the canals and elimination of microorganisms. The properties of the selected irrigants, such as antimicrobial action and ability to remove smear layer, are critical for achieving successful treatment outcomes. Modern irrigation protocols and solutions are constantly being refined with new techniques and solution combinations to enhance their efficacy. Activation methods for irrigants, such as ultrasonic and laser activation, are being introduced to ensure better penetration of solutions into hard-to-reach areas of the root canal system, thereby improving treatment effectiveness. AIM OF THE STUDY: To analyze various root canal irrigation methods in endodontics, evaluating their effectiveness and clinical applications. The study provides an overview of current methods and the latest trends in this field. METHODS AND MATERIALS: This scientific research work included 43 sources, that were selected based on the following criteria - published within the last five years, articles published in English, full-text articles available, the title or abstract includes one of the keywords, the content of the article is directly related to the research topic, and aligns with the objectives and aims of this study. CONCLUSIONS: The most effective irrigation protocol in endodontics is the sequential irrigation with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). These solutions provide the best antibacterial effect and smear layer removal. To prevent precipitate formation, distilled water should be used between the two irrigants. Activation of the final irrigant enhances the effectiveness of root canal treatment, increases the number of eliminated bacteria, and improves sealer penetration. Laser activation demonstrates the highest efficiency. Irrigant combinations, such as QMix and Irritrol offer a combined antibacterial and smear layer removal effect, simplifying the root canal treatment procedure.
