Kopsavilkums
The work aims to examine women’s quality of life after a mastectomy, given the existence of breast reconstruction and the age of patients. The study uses the QLQ-C30 (quality of life Questionnaire, a 30-unit instrument designed to investigate quality of life for all cancer patients) and QLQ-BR23 (a 23-unit instrument designed to investigate quality of life for breast cancer patients) questionnaires that can analyze both functional and symptomatic aspects of quality of life. A total of 200 respondents were analysed, some of whom underwent breast reconstruction and some of whom did not. The study results show that women with breast reconstruction have higher quality of life scores in functional and symptomatic areas compared to women without reconstruction. Statistically significant differences were found in the assessment of sexual functioning and overall quality of life. Conversely, the correlation analysis showed no significant association between age and quality of life scales. The stated hypothesis that post-mastectomy patients have better quality of life when they have a breast prosthetic but are not affected by their age was confirmed. It can be concluded that breast reconstruction can contribute to higher quality of life and emotional well-being in post-mastectomy patients until age is a major influencing factor. The results of the work may be useful in planning psychosocial rehabilitation and informing patients of the potential benefits of reconstructive surgery. Bachelor’s thesis volume 45 pages, includes 8 images, 13 tables. 40 scientific sources have been used.
