Kopsavilkums
The aim of the Master's thesis "Determinants of consumer behavior in making donations digitally. A case study of the donation campaigns of the “Caritas Latvia” foundation" is to develop a concept for digital donation attraction within the “Caritas Latvia”, based on the findings from scientific literature and empirical research on consumer behavior. The study analyses psychological, social, economic, and other aspects that influence people's decisions to make donations, as well as the impact of various external factors, such as tax incentives, social responsibility and digital platforms. Online donations are becoming an increasingly popular and convenient way for people to support charitable organizations, allowing them to donate quickly and securely from anywhere in the world. Financial donations, in particular, are a way of supporting social initiatives and creating positive societal change, inspiring others to do likewise and encouraging collective engagement in problem solving. The Master's thesis consists of three main chapters, in which both theoretical aspects and practical examples are analysed in detail. In the first chapter, the scientific literature on the theoretical aspects of consumer behaviour is reviewed and examined using a monographic approach. The second chapter uses secondary data analysis to explore the field and the organisation, the importance of fundraising and the current practice of donations. In the third part of the thesis, the consumer influencing factors that contribute to donation acquisition and the impact of digitalisation were identified through a consumer survey and expert interviews. Based on the results of the research, the author has developed a concept for raising donations in the digital environment at the foundation "Caritas Latvia". Finally, conclusions are presented on the theoretical aspects, quantitative and qualitative research summarised in the master’s thesis and the determinants of consumer behaviour when donating in the digital environment are identified. The study concludes that the purpose of the donation, the emotional appeal, the transparency of the organisation, as well as the donor's psychological and personal factors such as age, lifestyle and social incentives are important factors in attracting donations. The most active donors are the 35-44 age group, who often make small donations, especially during the festive season or in crisis situations when emotions fuel the desire to help. To boost donation activity, attention should be paid not only to these factors, but also to digital solutions, transparency principles and public education on the importance and impact of donations. The development of digital solutions is important at all stages of a donation conception - from advertising and targeting to processing donation payments and communicating campaign results to audience. Thesis consists of 79 pages, illustrated with 17 figures and 9 tables, contains 18 appendices and 91 references.
