Abstract
Aim: Identify individuals' experience with the performance of daily activities, their conducive and delaying factors for individuals following transfemoral amputation during the post-prosthetic period. Methods: Qualitative study with semistructured interviews was made on persons in post-prosthetic period (at least three months post-prosthetic) after transfemoral amputation. The study involved five participants, four men and one woman with transfemoral amputation during the post-prosthetic period (at least three months post-prosthetic). Instruments used in the study: semi-structured telephone interview with open-type questions. An analysis of the results was conducted by analysis transcripts of the telephone interview using the content analysis method. Results: The participants in the study all engaged and performed daily activities at home. Two of the participants shared their experience that when doing daily activities at home, feel the need to rest due to fatigue so the daily activities are performed slowly. During daily activities, one study participant reported pain at the end of the amputee, which limited the use of the prosthesis. As described by the participants as a conducive factors in post-prosthetic period are daily home activities, self-care, moving around and acquisition of goods, environmental conducive factors described owned property, family and relatives support. Participants shared their experiences of delaying factors such as instability, difficulties in prolonged moving around, climbing stairs, inadequacy of the public environment and weather conditions. Conclusion: Individuals with transfemoral amputation in post-prosthetic period perform a variety of daily activities at home. Most frequently performed are self-care and home step activities. In daily activities outside the house involves those poeple with transfemoral amputation who have more conducive environmental and personal factors, such as owned garden areas, family and relatives support. Participants with transfemoral amputation in post-prosthetic period during daily activities described conducive factors such as a desire to be active, self-care activities to be carried out independently, acquisition of goods in order to be able to meet the basic needs, personal or public transport service, but delaying factors in daily activity participants described, such as instability, moving around, climbing, weather conditions that make it difficult to access the external environment and epidemiological conditions in the country due to Covid-19.
