Annotation Staff turnover among nurses, especially among those working in emergency departments, is becoming more and more important in today's world, and as a result this bachelor thesis was dedicated to the study of this problem. The aim of this thesis is to investigate whether there is a relationship between job satisfaction and the desire to leave the workplace. The main objectives were to identify the relationship between job satisfaction and intention to quit among nurses working in emergency departments and to find out whether there is a relationship between these variables. To achieve the aim of the study, theoretical information related to work and organisational psychology was collected and analysed. Also, research papers dealing with nurses' job satisfaction and their intentions to leave the workplace were studied. Questionnaires were used in the practical part: Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS), developed by Paul E. Spector (1985) which is obtained from the author's personal free internet site, and Anticipated Turnover Scale (Hinshaw and Atwood, 1984) which was obtained from the psychology laboratory of RSU with the permission of the corresponding authors. In addition, a questionnaire instrument with five socio-demographic questions developed by the author of this paper was used. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional method of correlations was used for data collection. The study involved 103 respondents who met the set selection criteria and voluntarily agreed to participate in the study. Only nurses working in the emergency department of three tertiary care hospitals were eligible to participate in the study. The analysis revealed mixed results, suggesting that respondents from a given sample had high levels of job satisfaction and high levels of intention to leave. As a result, the hypothesis was not supported. The author believes that this result is related to other influencing variables that can be investigated in the future.
