Kopsavilkums
Šī maģistra darba mērķis bija noskaidrot studentu psiholoģiskās noturības, pašpalīdzību stratēģiju un psiholoģiskā distresa rādītāju saistību studentu izlasē.
Metode. Pētījumā piedalījās 486 respondenti vecumā no 18 līdz 60 gadiem (M = 27.34, SD = 9.60). No kopējā respondentu skaita 67,7% (N = 329) bija sievietes un 32,3% (N = 157) bija vīrieši. Dalībnieku iekļaušanas kritērijs bija students vecumā no 18 līdz 69 gadiem.
The aim of this master's thesis was to investigate the relationship between psychological resilience, self-help strategies, and psychological distress indicators among a student sample. Method. The study involved 486 participants aged between 18 and 60 years (M = 27.34, SD = 9.60). Of the total number of respondents, 67.7% (N = 329) were female and 32.3% (N = 157) were male. The inclusion criterion was being a student aged between 18 and 69 years. Instruments. Respondents provided demographic data including gender, age, level of education, employment status, and field of study. Additionally, they completed the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (Kessler et al., 2002), the Self-Help Strategies Questionnaire (Mārtinsone et al., 2021), and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (Connor & Davidson, 2003). Results. There was a statistically significant relationship between psychological resilience, self-help strategies, and psychological distress. More frequent engagement in self-help activities was associated with lower levels of psychological distress. Psychological resilience significantly negatively predicted psychological distress. It was also found that psychological resilience significantly positively predicted the use of self-help strategies, and self-help strategies, in turn, positively predicted psychological distress. However, psychological resilience did not function as a mediator between self-help strategies and psychological distress. Students who were employed reported significantly higher scores in total psychological resilience and its subscales—emotional and cognitive regulation, self-efficacy, optimism, and ability to cope with difficulties. Non-working students showed slightly higher levels of distress. Conclusions. Higher levels of psychological resilience are associated with lower psychological distress. Higher resilience is also linked to the use of self-help strategies—specifically professional development, well-being practices, and maintaining life balance, as well as social and peer support. There was a statistically significant relationship between indicators of psychological resilience, self-help strategies, and psychological distress. Participants who reported higher levels of psychological resilience showed lower scores in psychological distress and higher scores in self-help strategies, particularly in the domains of professional development, life balance, social and peer support, and self-care. Working students demonstrated significantly higher levels of psychological resilience and use of self-help strategies, especially in the areas of professional development, time management, and life balance.
