The bachelor’s creative project “Video Feature – Creating the Visual Environment of the Feature Film “VULGAR” ” explores the role of the visual environment in a feature film and its significance in storytelling. The thesis analyses the functions of the film’s environment and its adaptation to the chosen genre (romance, drama, comedy). The theoretical framework is based on the insights of film theorists such as Bill Nichols, David Bordwell, Kristin Thompson, Barry Keith Grant, Stella Bruzzi, among others. The aim of the thesis is to create an informative video feature about the development of the visual environment in the feature film “VULGAR”, documenting the artistic and technical choices, as well as analysing their role in the film’s aesthetics and narrative. The objectives include researching the theoretical background, analysing the scenographic process and location choices, conducting interviews with the creative team, as well as planning, shooting, and editing the video feature using the “CapCut” application. As a result, a video feature has been produced, documenting the creation of the film’s visual environment and revealing the nuances of the creative process from concept to visual realization. The feature is intended for distribution on the RSU student media platform “Skaļāk.RSU.lv” and on social media, with the aim of reaching a wider audience and providing insight into professional practice.
