Kopsavilkums
Title of the study: Experience of speech-language pathologists practising in Latvia with dysphagia patients Aim of the study: To investigate the experience of speech-language pathologists practising with dysphagia patients in Latvia, to identify the main challenges and intervention methods. Methods: The study used a qualitative research approach, conducting individual structured interviews with six audiologists who are certified and working in Latvia. The interviews were conducted using video conferencing platforms Zoom and Google Meet. Microsoft Word and Miro Board were used for data analysis. Conclusions: The experience of speech-language pathologists practising in Latvia with dysphagia patients varies and there is a need for more education and resources to improve treatment. Early intervention is essential in the care of dysphagic patients, improving treatment outcomes and preventing health problems. Speech-language pathologists use a variety of techniques and tools, but there is a need to improve access to and training in these tools. Lack of resources and support makes it difficult to work with difficult patients, so more collaboration and access to technology is needed.
