Kopsavilkums
Atsauksmes no iesaistītajām pusēm zobārstniecības
This Literature review goes into the historical progression and transformative impact of virtual simulations within dental education. Beginning with the first use of phantom head simulators in 1894, the paper traces the evolution of simulation technologies through to the present day, where advanced virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and haptic feedback systems play important roles. It examines the educational shift from traditional hands-on training methods to interactive, computer-based simulations, highlighting the advantages of such technologies in enhancing student learning outcomes, procedural confidence, and practical skills. Despite the significant benefits, the paper also acknowledges the challenges faced by dental educational institutions, including the initial costs of setup and the need for faculty adaptation to these new teaching tools. Feedback from various parties in dental education support the positive feedback of virtual simulations, while future trends are explored, pointing to a future of ongoing innovation and technology integration.
