Kopsavilkums

Cancer and oncologic diseases were always a part of human condition and have been a medical concern throughout the centuries. In the last decades, the incidence of oncological diseases rose, raising concern in the medical field. Occupational exposures were the only risk factors acknowledged to be associated with cancer development until the middle of the 20th century. An estimate of 2 to 8% of all cancers can be attributed to occupation. In Europe, occupational cancer (OC) is considered to be one of the main health problems at the workplace. Occupational cancer was responsible for approximately 53% of all work-related deaths, in European Union (EU) and other developed countries in the last years.
