Kopsavilkums
Pilotpētījumā piedalījās 10 dalībnieki (60 % sievietes), vecumā no 18 līdz 65 gadiem (M = 36,4; SD = 12,06). Savukārt, pamatpētījumā piedalījās 400 dalībnieki (56,8 % sievietes), vecumā no 18 līdz 65 gadiem (M = 41,42; SD = 13,45). Aptaujas dati tika ievākti, izmantojot Microsoft Forms platformu. Respondenti aizpildīja NPI (Raskin & Terry, 1988) latviešu valodas versiju, izmantojot 5 punktu Likerta skalu, kā arī sniedza demogrāfisko informāciju (vecums, dzimums, izglītības līmenis).
Psihometriskie rādītāji norādīja uz augstu iekšējo saskaņotību – Kronbaha Alfa pilnajai versijai sasniedza α = 0,95, savukārt, saīsinātajā versijā (21 pants) – α = 0,82. Apakšskalām Kronbaha Alfa rādītāji svārstījās no 0,77 līdz 0,86. Visi diskriminācijas indeksu rādītāji pārsniedza 0,30, un neviens pants netika izslēgts. Izpētošā faktoru analīze apstiprināja 7 faktoru struktūru, kas atbilst teorētiskajam modelim. Apstiprinošās faktoru analīzes rezultāti uzrādīja apmierinošus modeļa piemērotības rādītājus. Pētījuma rezultāti norāda, ka NPI latviešu valodas versijai ir laba iekšējā ticamība un atbilstoša faktoru struktūra, kas apliecina instrumenta piemērotību turpmākai izmantošanai Latvijas populācijā gan pētniecībā, gan profesionālajā darbā.
The aim of this study was to adapt the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) to the Latvian language. The NPI consists of 40 items and measures expressions of grandiose narcissism across seven distinct dimensions: authority, self-sufficiency, superiority, exhibitionism, exploitativeness, vanity, and entitlement. Until now, this instrument had not been available in Latvian, and therefore this adaptation was developed to enable accurate assessment in psychological research and practice. Three research questions were formulated to evaluate the internal consistency of the instrument, the item discrimination and response indices, and the correspondence of the factor structure to the original version. The pilot study included 10 participants (60% women), aged between 18 and 65 years (M = 36.4; SD = 12.06). The main study involved 400 participants (56.8% women), aged 18 to 65 (M = 41.42; SD = 13.45). Data were collected via the Microsoft Forms platform. Participants completed the Latvian version of the NPI (Raskin & Terry, 1988) using a 5-point Likert scale and provided demographic information (age, gender, education level). Psychometric results indicated high internal consistency – Cronbach’s Alpha for the full version reached α = .95, and for the shortened version (21 items) α = .82. The subscales showed Cronbach’s Alpha values ranging from .77 to .86. All item discrimination indices exceeded 0.30, and no items were excluded. Exploratory factor analysis confirmed a 7-factor structure consistent with the theoretical model. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated satisfactory model fit indices. The results suggest that the Latvian version of the NPI demonstrates good internal reliability and an appropriate factor structure, confirming the instrument’s suitability for use in both research and professional settings within the Latvian population.
