Abstract
Pētījums tika balstīts uz 2018. gada februārī žurnālā “Journal of Clinical Nursing” Upsalas universitātes Zviedrijā pētnieku komandas pētnieces PhD Eva Jangland vadībā publicētu pētījumu “Māszinību studentu izpratne par aprūpes pamatvajadzībām” (Nursing students’ understanding of the Fundamentals of Care: A cross-sectional study in five countries).
The master’s thesis “Adaptation of the survey instrument “Understanding of the Fundamentals of Care” – three nursing scenarios” consists of three parts – theoretical part, adaptation research and products developed as a result of instrument adaptation – test manual and educational material for nurses. The aim of the study was to adapt the tool – three care scenarios for nurses studying and/ or working in Latvian culture and to answer the research questions, whether the tool – three care scenarios – clearly describes situations and is understandable for nurses studying and/ or working in Latvian culture, and whether the tool measures the same trait as in the original study. The study was based on a study published in February, 2018. in the Journal of Clinical Nursing by a team of researchers at Uppsala university in Sweden, led by Eva Jangland “Nursing students’ understanding of the Fundamentals of Care: A cross-sectional study in five countries”. The mixed study design, adaptation study was used. Surveyed 50 student nurses at different stages of their studies. Five experts were involved in the scenario content validation process and each respondent’s questionnaire was analyzed by two evaluators. The tool will provide an opportunity to widely study the nurses and/or nursing students’ understanding of the Fundamentals of Care in the Latvian cultural environment, to compare the obtained results with the results of the research conducted in 2018. and to draw conclusions about the content of education in the sense of the Fundamentals of Care. The developed study material can be used as an intervention in further research. As a result of the research, it is concluded that the tool - three care scenarios - clearly describes situations and is understandable for nurses studying and / or working in the Latvian cultural environment, as well as measures nurses' understanding of the Fundamentals of Care, identical to the original study.
