ANOTĀCIJA
Darba autore: Ieva Celma
Darba vadītāja: RSU Rehabilitācijas katedra, Mg.sc.sal. Ilze Klatenberga
ABSTRACT The author: Ieva Celma Moderator: RSU Faculty of Rehabilitation, Mg.sc.sal. Ilze Klatenberga Title: Systematic review: the influence of white noise therapy for children with ADHD. Purpose: To systematically collect and analyze available information sources on the effects of white noise therapy for children with ADHD. Research methods: Several available databases were used to collect the data: Pubmed, SAGE, BMJ Journals, Tyler&Francis Online, Clinical, Wiley Online Library. To be included in the study, articles had to be in English, free of charge and eligible for inclusion. The following keywords were used in the article search: white noise, auditory noise, concurent noise, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD, speech therapy, treatment. Results: When searching for information on white noise therapy, the information available in Latvian was scarce, but nothing was found about the influence of white noise for children with ADHD. Interpretations of white noise therapy in the information sources are different, but there is no unitary information about the course of therapy, the used device, the type or volume of white noise. In three of the four studies, the amount of error was measured, and in one study, the response rate was measured. Visual stimuli were used in three studies, while audio stimuli were used in two studies. In all studies child`s score improved due to the influence of white noise. All the results obtained were statistically significant, which shows that white noise has a positive effect on children with ADHD, and children are able to show better results in tests in terms of reaction speed and reduced error rate. Conclusions: For white noise therapy, there is no unitary description of the duration of treatment, the programs used, and the volume of white noise played. White noise therapy is easy to perform, it does not require special equipment, large funds or a customized environment - you can use your own smart devices, free computer programs and simple headphones. There are statistically significant results showing that white noise has a positive effect on children with ADHD by improving the rate of response and reducing test errors.
