This literature review examines the current healthcare, treatment strategies, and barriers for women in perimenopause, focusing on both medical and lifestyle interventions. The author analysed evidence-based studies from PubMed and ScienceDirect, which have been published between 2015 and 2025, to assess how the current healthcare system addresses the physical, psychological and social challenges associated with perimenopause. This literature review identified significant knowledge gaps, fragmented healthcare, and an inadequate education of healthcare providers regarding menopause. It highlights the effectiveness of non-hormonal and complementary approaches—such as exercise, nutrition, and acupuncture—in treating menopausal symptoms. However, the available evidence is limited due to small sample sizes and short follow-up periods. The literature review concludes that holistic, individualized, and evidence-based healthcare models that integrate medical, psychological, and lifestyle components are needed to ensure adequate healthcare for women in perimenopause.en-UK
