Kopsavilkums
Pētījumā piedalījās 25 LSVS biedri (60% - sievietes) vecumā no 45 līdz 85 gadiem (M = 62,6; SD = 11,4).
The aim of the research is to study the connection between personality traits and the collective self-assessment of LSVS sports veterans. Collective self-esteem is individual's perception of their participation in a social group, as well as the value and emotional significance of this participation. LPA is based on the personality theories of the Big Five and HEXACO and distinguishes six dimensions of personality: neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and honesty-humility. Research questions: 1) What personality traits are dominant in sports veterans? 2) What are the indicators of collective self-esteem for sports veterans? 3) Is there a connection between personality traits and collective self-esteem? Participants were 25 LSVS members (60% - women) aged 45 to 85 years (M = 62.6; SD = 11.4). The inclusion/exclusion criteria were: age at least 45 years, retired athlete, LSVS member and LPA-v3 falsehood score below 61 T. Data were collected by Latvian Personality Inventory (LPA-v3; Perepjolkina un Reņģe, 2013), Collective Self-Esteem Scale (Luhtanen & Crocker, 1992, adapted in Latvian (Ezeriņa, Kleina, Mārtinsone, Purvlīce, 2018); CSES) and demographic data. Procedure. Due to the epidemiological constraints of Covid-19, the study participants were recruited by e-mail through principal administrator of LSVS. Results. The results of LSVS members LPA-v3 are in accordance with the average results in a standardized sample. KPA results correspond to average results. Statistically significant negative correlations between KPA public collective self-esteem and stress resistance personality trait (r = -0.42, p <0.05), depression personality trait (r = -0.41, p <0.05), and positive correlations with curiosity personality trait (r = 0.43, p <0.05), prudence personality trait (r = 0.45, p <0.05), honesty personality trait (r = 0.49, p <0.05), humility personality trait (r = 0.54, p <0.01) and greed avoidance personality trait (r = 0.54, p <0.01). Statistically significant correlations between KPA private collective self-esteem and humility personality trait (r = 0.59, p <0.01). Statistically significant correlations between KPA importance to identity with greed avoidance personality trait (r = 0.50, p <0.05) and culture personality trait (r = 0.59, p <0.01). Statistically significant correlation of KPA membership self-esteem with creativity personality trait (r = 0.46, p <0.05) and culture personality trait (r = 0.42, p <0.05). Conclusions. There is a connection between collective self-esteem and personality traits. The results can be used to further promote the collective identity of the members of LSVS.
