Abstract
Radošā bakalaura darba Latvijas nedzirdīgo kopienas portretu sērijas izstrāde, diskutējot par citādā atainojumu dokumentālajā fotogrāfijā ietvaros tika izveidota portretu sērija, kas dokumentē Latvijas neredzīgo kopienas pārstāvju sapņus, ko viņi komunicē zīmju valodā. Sērijas uzdevums ir radīt alternatīvus naratīvus par nedzirdību, kas konkurētu ar sabiedrības aizspriedumainajiem priekšstatiem par šo kopienu. Sērija tiecas mainīt sabiedrībā eksistējošās citādošanas prakses uz diskursiem, kas aktualizētu nedzirdīgo kopienas piederību pie Nedzirdīgo kultūras.
Radošā bakalaura teorētiskā bāze sastāv no četrām pamatdaļām. Pirmajā daļā tiek nodefinēts galvenais izaicinājums, ar kuru saskaras nedzirdīgo kopiena- citādošana no dzirdīgās sabiedrības daļas. Tiek apkopoti vairāku autoru viedokļi, kas uzsver Nedzirdīgo kultūras fenomena lomu alternatīvu diskursu konstruēšanā. Otrajā daļā tiek diskutēts par fotogrāfijas medija koloniālo dabu un citādošanas praksēm. Tiek apskatītas varas attiecības, kas rodas starp fotogrāfu un modeli, īpaši, ja tas ir minoritātes pārstāvis. Trešajā daļā tiek meklētas dokumentālās fotogrāfijas prakses, kas ir piemērotas darbā ar minoritāšu pārstāvjiem. Ceturtajā daļā tiek meklēti efektīvākie instrumenti, lai konstruētu naratīvus par minoritāšu pārstāvjiem. Teorētiskās daļas izstrādē tika izmantoti vairāk kā 40 akadēmiskie avoti un vairāku desmitu pētnieku teorētiskās nostādnes.
Darba rezultātā tika radīts oriģināls un mākslinieciski augstvērtīgs naratīvs par nedzirdīgo kopienu Latvijā. Šī naratīva producēšanas prakse un izstrāde tika balstīta atziņās, kas tika nodefinētas darba teorētiskajā bāzē. Darba noslēgumā autors izveidoja secinājumu daļu un izstrādāja ieteikumus dokumentālo projektu producentiem, kuri strādās ar minoritāšu pārstāvjiem.
The present Bachelor Paper contains series of portraits of people from deaf community, while discussing depiction of difference within documentary photography. The series of portraits were created to record dreams of Latvian deaf community, demonstrated in form of sign language. The goal of the series is to create alternative narratives on hearing impairment that could oppose the public bias regarding the respective community.The series strive to replace the existing practices of othering with discourse that would discuss the issue of deaf community belonging to deaf culture. The theoretical part of the Bachelor paper consists of four basic parts. The first one defines the main challenge the deaf community faces – othering the deaf community from the hearing part of society. Views by several authors were gathered, which emphasize the role of the deaf culture phenomenon in constructing alternative discourses. The second part discusses the colonial properties of the photograph media and the practices of othering. An insight into power dynamics occurring between a photographer and a model is given, especially in cases, where the model belongs to a minority group. The third part seeks for practices of documentary photographs that might be suitable for using with individuals belonging to a minority group. The fourth part is dedicated to finding the most efficient tools for constructing narratives on people from minority groups. The theoretical part is based on more than 40 academic sources and theoretical statements by dozens of researchers. As a result of the work an original narrative of high artistic value was created regarding the deaf community in Latvia. The practice of narrative production and its elaboration were guided by the truths defined in the theoretical part of the paper. The final part of the paper contains a chapter of conclusions and some recommendations for any producers working on documentary projects with people from minority groups.
